| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ Not seeing Grandma Rowena wasn't fair, but her mother had decided that it was better for her health to stay here. That was something Rowan absolutely did not agree with, even if she did not have to go home but could stay near school because Helena counted on Nimue-sensei, Rowan hated the lecture her father had given and their big fight became quite escalated. She was now even not at home but still running away, all the time in the area of U.A.
The music room to play violin.
the cafeteria to eat lunch.
The infirmary to let the nurse to check her muscles and senses after a month or almost.
Right now the cheerleader captain was musing in the cafetaria while twirling her fork above her plate. She was writing notes on her phone about what to do, she was practicing quite a bit in her free time for cheerleading too, meaning she was also in the training facility. She wanted to use Melody her idea of the film movie and nothing better but the current time but Melody and Hye-Rin were in Korea. Lovely idea. She wondered if she should text Haru and she smiled at her screen only considering it. She was addicted to texting Haru as he replied very fast when he got the chance and it felt nice.
She mused a bit on, asking him what he thought she should do, but basically the answer was that she simply had to consider what she wanted. She looked at the notes, she had thought about speaking to Kirk before, wondering what he would do at the start of the second year, a try out for the first years? She would not mind to get a few more cheerleaders but they were already with ten which was a great start.
Ah so many questions but no correct and concrete answer! |

It was obvious at this point: New school year was looming in the horizon and new people were coming in droves. Last year he had been in those droves, and it was very hard to just think what was going on in their heads. The two week break was technically a perfect time for new folks to come in, he guessed. Since you know, hype from the sports festival was still hot in the air, bringing that interest in stuff like this to record heights. However, what Kirk wanted to do instead of thinking these sorts of things, was sports... With all of his mates of the sports club, with similar fighting spirit as before! Well, atleast mostly so. He was still a little bit sore from some of the beating he had gotten in there.
...Even though it really didn't matter that much... Because most of the sports club was out there traveling about and doing completely different things to what he had planned! Admittedly, the annoyance about it had long since steamed out of him, and it was not like all of his friends were completely gone. He had had plenty of fun... but sometimes the thought about HOW fun it could have been if others had stuck around was kind of distressing.
But, Jogs were always a thing. And so was cheap food from the cafeteria at U.A. Since his grandpa was taking a nap, and he was feeling munchies hitting (in his case, munchies were pretty much as bad as hunger), it felt like a perfect time to stretch his legs, and go visit the place. He could see some of the students at the same time too! Gotta judge the new muscle! And besides, working out and eating were some of the best ways to keep him occupied.
Entering the cafeteria as patiently as an ox entering a porcelain store, Kirk immediately went over to the buffet, and started scooping up salad, meatloaf, rice, and chopped cucumber as a side! Kirk was the sort of guy who really didn't care what was in his meatloaf, As long as it was meat and semi tasty. Even ketchup was provided, which was a classic addition to the weirdly huge pile, that would propably make anyone from the sidelines look at him awkwardly. However, after the mess was ready and he proceeded into the mess hall, at first, he was just planning to sit down and chow down! However, his eyes glanced at a familiar hairdo, and he proceeded to do the usual thing he did whenever he saw someone familiar to him! "ROWAN, my dudette!"
Admittedly, it had been a while since he had been twosome with rowan. He had seen her and talked with her semi often, since their clubs meshed together amazingly well in priorities, but it usually still only together in group activities! Now that his chance had come, he was not gonna miss it! He ran next to her, and slammed his tray in front of her, as he squatted into a sitting position! "Man, am I happy to see one of my pals around here!" For a moment he looked almost like he shouldn't have said it outloud. "I mean, you ain't planning to travel or anything, are you?" He chuckled awkwardly... he clearly hoped not.
"Anyways... Whats up!?"

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ She looked at her screen again, as much as it was fun to text Haru and how it made her happy, that did not give her a solution to her problem. She did not even want to think about it as a problem, that word was just something she would keep in the back of her mind in case that other version showed up again. She took a deep breath, not knowing what to think or how to formulate. She did not want to depend on others, that's what she wrote down in her notes but the problem was that basically that's what she was doing, she would ask Haru's opinion, not her own, she wanted to know what Kirk was doing, not her own. But wouldn't it be rude to close of the cheerleaders, simply and only because they had ten members already? Many of the girls, including herself, were part of other clubs so it wouldn't be bad if she would get some more in case of well... what exactly. The fellow cheerleaders not showing up...?
She rather did not want to think about that. She twirled her fork again above the plate but still had not taken a new bite. She jumped up, her shoulders moving upright and she almost dropped her fork but quickly grabbed it and clenched it in her hand. "Kirk." She looked left and right, having not suspect the boy to show up while thinking about him so shortly again, they both did not live in the dorm right? That was an assumption based on their first meeting.
Pals?
That was a good word right? She stared at her fellow second year student and was simply surprised to see him here so much that she wasn't sure what to say. She shook her head lightly, "No my mother decided that it was better for my health to stay at home." She shrugged, which was finally not giving her any pain anymore. She was glad that Nakahara-sensei had fixed everything. "Actually, I was just thinking about you." The fire starter said and gave a weak smile because she had no idea if she would be bothering him about it, they did talk from time to time about other club activities but it was still something so new to her and she could imagine someone would want a break during the break. She looked at his lunch before staring at her own and putting her phone down to in a few seconds hopefully take a bite. "I was wondering if you planned to do try outs for the first years or other second years at the start of the new school year, I am considering what to do for the cheerleaders." |

There was a clear reaction from Rowan, as she heard Kirks approach. Enough of a flinch, for Kirk to notice her, that was for sure. She just proceeded to say Kirk, and looked around herself all sorts of confused, but now that he was sitting in front of her, Kirk didn't exactly think there was much to be confused about. "Sorry! It's just that well, most of the club ain't around for these two weeks... Kind of don't wanna let another slip by without me noticing..." To his relief, Rowan seemed to be stuck in a similar situation as he was. Taken care of by a bit overbearing parental figure. Although the reasoning she gave felt a bit weird. "Healthier?" A moment of thinking later, he got somewhat of an idea. "Ooh yeah, Allergy season, right? Or did you get hurt in the sports festival?" For a girl with explosive powers, something like an allergy must have been pretty dangerous... Luckily Kirk himself didn't suffer from those. Sports festival on the other hand would have propably been more wayforward answer...
However, Kirk was clearly intrigued when she mentioned that she had been thinking of him. He rubbed his chin, waiting as patiently as he could for her to say what she had on her mind... only to remember that oh yeah, he came here to eat too! He struck his own knife into the meatloaf, scooped some rice on top, and put it into his mouth. Somehow it was much easier for him to stay still whilst he was chewing. "Whatcha got?" He said, in between bites.
She brought up doing tryouts... His eyes widened a little bit from realization. "Oh, well, not that much I admit!" He scratched the upper part of his cheek in thought, before lifting one of his index fingers up like he had remembered something. "I did have this booth in one of the classrooms during sports festival!" Sadly he had to close it when the proper events started. He just didn't really feel like standing about just waiting for people to come in when he could have gotten last minute workouts. "That got me a couple of new members..." However, she did have a good point! With all the "fresh meat" coming in, there had to be quite a few folks looking for places to hang out in! "I am thinking about doing one NOW though!" He gave a double thumbs up, almost like thanking her for bringing it up.
However, with her asking what to do with the cheerleaders, Kirk, having experience of them from America, was happy to offer some insight... how helpful it was was upto rowan herself. "Well, you know, might wanna do some acrobatics check! Just let em do what they want for cheering!" He scooped some more meatloaf and rice into his mouth, chewed at record speed, and gulped it down! "Then, you pick out who you think would be best suited! Albeit uh... What do YOU think a good cheerleader would be like?" For Kirk, they needed to be just attention grabbing and energetic, and almost ready to do a similar level of workout towards the ones they were cheering for!

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ She had not noticed Kirk was here so she had jumped up in surprised and stared surprised at her fellow classmate to see him here during the break, considering assumptions and what not, she understood very well that just like her, he did not want to miss out on meeting up with friends when they could. She tilted her head a little to the left when he asked her if she had allergies or if it was an injury from the sports festival. She had managed to get out of there without much issues, it helped to be the most explosive power if she would say so herself. "Ah no, I got into an accident." Let's not make the atmosphere around here worse than it could be. "My mother is kind of overprotective though." Her shoulder was fine after a month, so she did not want to complain too much about it at any time anymore. Helena had every right to be overprotective when it came to Lady but at this point she had not felt any problems with the woman anymore, she was gone, Rowan suspected it had to do with how she was developing, albeit she was barely using her own quirk, she did not trust the two of them.
She liked how easy Kirk thought about these things, maybe easy wasn't the right word but how he had not considered it before and thought about it now, "I know, I did the pep rally, but as we just started I did not get much other members. One is even leaving, I might be considering something new along like it." She wasn't sure yet how to do it but it might be an idea to combine it, for both of their sakes it could show a great display of their clubs. She noted down what he gave her as advice, "That's a great idea." Shame Melody was leaving, one of the best assets maybe when considering that. She thought about his question, twirling her own fork before shrugging, "I don't think I care too much about aerobics, it would be great to have someone like that of course, multiple but the whole thing is about enjoying what you do, so you can cheer for the others. Isn't that the most important thing?" She looked up at Kirk with a smile before finally putting her own food in her mouth. |

Just the mention of an accident had Kirk getting a little bit curious. His head pretty much popped right into attention, and physically prepared to ask her "What sort of accident?!". After all, she didn't really look like she had any sort of bruises or broken bones or anything... However, just the mention of her mother being overly protective felt like it was more than enough of an explanation. "aah... Yeah, I getcha! Real hard to convince em, when they've got something on their mind, you know!" She had seen his grandpa. The guy pretty much had Kirk on a tight leash at all times whenever they were out together.
Also the reason why she was trying to get some new members came to light. Apparently the pep rally they had didn't pull the numbers, and one of them was outright quitting. "Well that's not fun... Did she-" He stopped for a moment. Come to think of it there was a pretty big chance they were a dude! "did THEY say anything about what their reason was?!" In that regard, it could perhaps be a a learning possibility! Although, if it was a hate towards a specific sport, Kirk himself propably wouldn't understand it as a proper reason.
However, the fact that she liked his idea, had him nodding all sorts of proudly! But the point she brought was actually a pretty good counter argument... "Well, Yeah obviously! Ain't nobody cheering louder than me, when my pals going hard!" He bumped his chest with his fist. He was very proud of it indeed! "But uh... I dunno, if it's just that it makes me think more about a fanclub than cheerleaders!" Kirk was maybe being a little bit rude, but honest. "Like you said, Anybody can cheer! BUT, what cheerleaders have... is choreography! Fancy stuff! TEAMWORK!" He flexed his fist towards Rowan, almost to emphasize the point. "It's all about that big coordinated effort that you guys have been doing in our matches, you know!"
However, that gave him a mild idea. "What about... A TALENT competition!? Well, in some way atleast! You know, to find dudes and dudettes with that specially stand out thing they can do!?" For cheerleading specifically, it seemed doable in Kirks head. For the sports club, when he wanted it to be as varied as possible sportvise... maybe not so much. But he hadn't gotten to that part of his thoughts yet.

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ She wasn't really sure is she would be able to tell people what she all went through or not and decided to be against it, five people excluding the teachers and her mother was enough. She took a deep breath, it wasn't that she blamed Helena, but she had the feeling that being outside Japan, outside Tokyo would make her forget the whole thing that she could not remember for the whole time, so it was even more frustrating, what if she would meet Bucket again, Bucket was his name right and what had they talked about? As much as she could ignore the whole fiasco in her head every time she realized why they were still here made her wonder about it again and again... and again.
But even without telling Kirk the details, he seemed to understand what she meant and how she felt about it with her mother. That's when she remembered his grandfather and yes, she understood why he did.
So she asked him what she wanted to ask or well the reason why she thought of him, admitting one of the cheerleaders left. "No, Melody seemed to want to discover other things and by all means she should, I just hoped she would help me out, she seemed really enthusiastic during the sports festival but now I believe everyone is busy with either training, boyfriends or other club activities that they do not show up so often." Also because the girl suggested movie night and suggested to help with dancing at least for Rowan, it came so out of the blue.
She simply listened to Kirk, leaning with her left cheek on her hand and staring at him, not considering him rude but honest and she nodded, saying a simple mhm. "I agree with that, during the break I have been thinking about dance steps and routines all the time, I try to get better at it myself and be more original and well some stunts would be fun but I need people that show up to training for that." Which brought the frown back on her face. Exactly for the football match it had gone nicely, they were motivated, after that it was just a deep down...sinkhole. She sighed and put some of the salad on her fork and in her mouth. Yes, how to fix that.
But she wasn't alone in this brainstorm moment and she looked up surprised at quirk and his enthusiasm, "That sounds like a great idea!" She said happily when she had finished munching on her food, she could totally make use of that! She would be original and ask people their own talents and yet get them to work together. |

A quick explanation was given to Kirk as to what had happened, which caused Kirk to scoff a little. "Heh, classic business! Dudes always prioritize a girl over sports too so..." There was however a slight shudder, as he remembered it was melody who had left. And wasn't she elis girlfriend? Kirk wasn't exactly good at this sort of thing, but the thought did make him still consider quite quickly something, that soon came out of his mouth: "I uh... you don't think it's cause I beat her up at the sports festival, do you?" Admittedly, Eli had reached out to him so he could join the sports club, so in that regard it didn't make sense. But if it was obvious everybody else well... He would rather know sooner than later.
However, his enthusiastic suggestion to what cheerleading was about, got a little bit milder reaction. She brought up a good very factual opinion with it too: "You needed club members to do big stunts." Kirk couldn't really do anything else but nod to the saying. "Yeah, thats uh, a good point!" Of course now he just felt awkward bringing it up. the frown on Rowans face pretty much meant, that he needed some grand idea to pick the energy and excitement back up again!
And luckily that's what he had offered seemingly! The girl outright finished her munching and was looking at him like expecting him to follow what he had said with more suggestions. And luckily for her, Kirk always tended to have a plenty of things to say! "Like I said, I got a class for that business with ease, so asking for that from the principal shouldn't be too hard you know! Just gotta ask!" In that regard, Kirk felt proud about his idea, now that somebody was hyped for it. He spent a little bit more time thinking, before coming up with another thing to push it forward. "AND, if other folks get in, well, it allows THEM to see what the folks can do to recruit them into their own business! Like me for the sports club!"
It did certainly seem like a good idea... a little bit too good to be true...

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ She wasn't sure if she liked classical business, sure she liked spending time with Haru as well but the fact was that she had other responsibilities, such as taking care of the cheerleader routines, training and so on. She was entirely not convinced that you would pick a boy over training, did that boy not need air to breath either or are we all going to get glued together? Would she like that? She frowned a little, she more texted with Haru, who was a fast replyer, than actually meet up, she wasn't really good at this sort of stuff. But she did not actually want to judge people on that and she was also sure Melody did not dump her to spend time with a boyfriend, did she have a boyfriend? See that's why Melody suggested a movie night to get to know everyone more and now she bailed on her! Rowan grumbled a bit and looked at her phone before taking a deep breath and looking back at Kirk, what to do.
"Huh?" That Melody stepped down because she was beaten at the sports festival. "Oh, no I don't think so, she doesn't seem to be a person that behaves like that even if she is sour about losing a match." Which was basically an assumption, her memories about meeting up with Melody and the matches in the tournament as well as her own match in the cavalry battle was very vague. But she still believed Melody wasn't like that.
She did not want to become sad by this, she had said herself apparently that she did not want the girls to be there all the damn time but it would be awfully nice if they were. Ten members yet barely anyone that showed up. So she took a bite of her own food, munching on it as well as on an idea but Kirk suggested one and her golden eyes simply stared at him. "That's a great idea." She could not help but repeat at the end, it also felt less of a pull and push for her own idea, "We could make it a mini festival, sounds like fun!" She could ask Chise and Haruto-kun if they were okay with it for the cooking club and well, who was in the other clubs again? Maybe she could ask Yojin, she was sure he was in the robotics club, or almost sure, but she had no idea who was there but they could also ask and inform Emi. |

Kirk felt a bit of relief. From what he had learned, making somebody else girlfriend mad usually meant that you became their enemy too. And with Eli being a vice president now for the class... well, it probably wouldn't have been pretty. Kirk had never had a girlfriends, so he never got to exactly see the specifics in action. For now though, he could eat his food in peace, with big munchies.
The idea he had offered seemingly evolved into an outright festival in Rowans head, and Kirk was of course hyped about it. "Yeah, exactly! Just gotta get folks to come from all over! Could get some big ol' clear winners to show their skills before hand to garner hype, and then we just let the things roll forward!"
However, with the food shoveled into his mouth, his speech became a bit undecipherable for a while, until he swallowed, and things went back to regular talking. "I can just feel the energy from it already!" Ideas were bounced about, and more and more food was eaten. And in that regard, it was a reminder that these two had slowly become good friends over time. Despite their first meetings being kind of out there.
